IF YOUR CHILD IS MISSING?
Call the police if you suspect your child is missing! Call immediately!
If your child is small, check all areas that a child may hide in. Especially look in the area where he/she was last seen. Have others look in the same area they may see something you didn’t.
Make sure the police know all the details of how he/she disappeared, think long and hard about everything that happened.
Do not use the phone unless absolutely necessary.
Don’t let anyone go into the area where your child was last seen, keep it locked so that the police can find and evidence of his/her disappearance.
Take out the Identification Kit described earlier. If you don’t have one already made put one together, even if he/she is missing you can still find some of the things needed for one.
Put together as much information about them together as possible. Including what they were wearing, pictures, video tapes, etc..
Ask questions when the police arrive such as; will they be doing the AMBER Alert will be considered and if they will be going door to door to perform a search.
If he/she has been acting different make sure the police know about it.
Make sure they police know about anyone in your Childs life such as old and new friends, teachers, leaders, etc.. If you have contact information provide it to them.
If there are custody issues make sure the police know about them.
MOST MISSING CHILDREN ARE FOUND BY THEIR FAMILIES EFFORTS!
The police are limited as to what they can do, so you need to do as much as possible to help them and get your child home safely.
Take his/her picture and circulate as much as possible. Email their picture to everyone you know and have them do the same.
Post their picture in as many places as possible, there are organizations that will send you copies of their missing flyer for free. If not, shop around and get the best price possible for as many as you can afford and give to everyone you know to pass out in the areas where your child was last seen. Always carry them with you and give to everyone you see.
Go door to door and ask questions and give them the flyer, ask for their help most people are always willing to help when it involves children.
